Volunteer Opportunities at SABCC
SABCC is a grassroots organization that is just beginning to develop all the resources this community needs to make a dent in the buffelgrass invasion.
You can help tremendously in this effort in a number of ways.
- If you would like to work with a weedwacking group, you may pick from this list
- If you would like to do office work or other activities that don't involve digging buffelgrass, SABCC could definitely use your help.
Photographer - SABCC needs high quality photographs of all thing buffelgrass for use in it's educational and promotional work. We need shots of buffelgrass, people removing buffelgrass and pictures of many other aspects of the effort.
Website and Facebook - The SABCC website is easily accessed. We could use people to update pages and especially to tie in our Facebook Page.
Filing - These days, things pile up and there is always something more important than filing to get done. None the less, it is critical that things be able to be found when needed. Someone with a logical turn of mind with an hour or two to spare could really make a dent in our filing needs.
Research - There are several kinds of research needed. From finding the latest science being done to listing all the neighborhood associations in a given area. This can be done in your own home from your computer.
Mapping - This is geared to the wanna be or current geeks that would like to be outdoors. You do not need to have prior experience, we can train you. We need people who are able to hike into rough terrain, but also people who can work from a roadside.
Data Entry - Current effort sto map buffelgrass are gearing up and we need people who can get this date put into a central database. You do not need to know anything about mapping data, we can train you if you are curious and interested.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities (we could use several people for each one!) Please contact
