Andrew Denman
Selections from A Different Animal
November 1, 2017 - January 20, 2018

Andrew Denman’s latest series, A Different Animal, explores animals in a symbolic and conceptual context, presenting the wildlife we think we know with a mix of reverence and whimsy that is contemporary, bold, and uniquely Denman. The Art Institute of The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is pleased to exhibit 8 works from this new series in our Baldwin Education Gallery. The works selected for this show depict animals from the Sonoran Desert Region. Many of the subjects are modeled directly after animals in our living collection. From towering totems to playful patterns, Denman’s work engages the viewer not only with stunning imagery, but brings attention to the precarious state of wildlife in our world.
