The purpose was to evaluate in vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD), crude protein (CP) and macroelement concentration of a buffel (Cenchrus Ciliaris) - leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) association as affected by deferment at four utilization ages (42, 84, 126, and 168 days). A randomized block experimental design with three replicates was used. Samples consisting of leaf and stems of buffel grass and fine fraction (pinnae, petioles and stems &lt; 5mm in diameter) of leucaena were analyzed for CP, IVOMD, Ca, P, Mg, and Na content. In buffel, CP (8,66%) and K (3,65%) contents were considered adequate for grazing ruminants, while Ca, P, Mg, and Na were deficient. In leucaena CP, Ca, Mg, and K were adequate, while P and Na were below the critical deficiency level. Only Na concentration increased (P &lt; 0,05) with increasing maturity.</style>
<work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Article</style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">ISI:000245484300008</style></accession-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">ISI Document Delivery No.: 154CLTimes Cited: 0Cited Reference Count: 19Cited References: *AOAC, 1994, OFF METH AN *NRC, 1989, NUTR REQ DOM AN NUTR *NRC, 1996, NUTR REQ DOM AN NUTR *SAS I, 1990, SAS STAT US GUID VER, V1 ALBRECHT KA, 1987, CROP SCI, V27, P735 ALEXANDER RH, 1966, METODOS IN VITRO DET, P101 CARABALLO A, 1991, REV AGRON, V8, P167 FARIAMARMOL J, 1996, COMMUN SOIL SCI PLAN, V27, P2663 FICK KR, 1979, METHODS MINERAL ANAL HARRIS WD, 1954, J AM OIL CHEM SOC, V31, P124 JUNG HJG, 1992, J SCI FOOD AGR, V59, P169 KABAIJA E, 1989, TROP AGR, V66, P125 MARTISKAINEN O, 2006, EUR J MASS SPECTROM, V12, P25, DOI 10.1255/ejms.786 MCDOWELL LR, 1992, MINERAL ANIMAL HUMAN MISON DJ, 1990, FORAGE RUMINANT NUTR MUREITHI JG, 1994, TROP AGR, V71, P83 PIZARRO EA, 1990, PASTURAS TROPICALES, V12, P39 RAZZ R, 1992, REV FAC AGRON, V9, P109 SANCHEZ A, 2003, ARCH LATINOAM PROD A, V11, P29Faria Marmol, Jesus Sanchez, AlexanderIntercienciaCaracas</style></notes></record></records></xml>
