Road Survey of Buffelgrass in Greater Tucson

A road survey was completed by Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum staff and volunteers in 2004. Infestations of buffelgrass within the urbanized zone were not recorded, although they estimated that buffelgrass was present in nearly every vacant lot and unpaved road shoulder. Areas appearing yellow were moderately infested, with open spaces still existing between plants. Areas appearing in red were heavily infested and appeared likely to carry fire. Open areas (beyond the road rights-of-ways) were not recorded except in areas where infestations were extreme.
