Please note that the Museum will be closing at noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 for a staff appreciation event. (Art Institute classes are not affected by the closure.)
Like snow on saguaros, this too is an unusual sight. (Photographers go for the exceptional rather than the mundane.) This was at the end of a very wet winter, and this arroyo adjacent to the Desert Museum flowed like a mountain trout stream into June. In a normal year it carries water only for an hour or two during summer downpours, from zero to a couple of times each year.
